Your daily dose of pretty, one well-heeled step at a time.
One of the most successful and most talked about drama series of 2012, Reply 1997 details high school life with a flashback element. Jung Eunji, of A Pink fame, and Seo In Guk took the industry by storm with their playful, will-they-won’t-they friendship, and there is plenty of food for thought along the way…
Shi Won is a fangirl with her head in the clouds. Played by Jung Eunji, Shi Won is immediately likeable and relatable – she idolises H.O.T and is best friend to Yoon Jae, the classic boy next door. The plot revolves around Shi Won, Yoon Jae and their three best friends, and together as a five, Reply 1997 documents their high school life, filled with family, school, romance and friendship drama.
From the award-winning soundtrack to the budding romance that blossoms between various characters, to the unique flashback and diary format of the drama itself, Reply 1997 is easily hailed up there as a ‘Boys Over Flowers’ standard of drama. Yep, that good. I’d highly recommend this to K-drama starters – packed full of every genre under the sun with loveable characters along the way.
